French Quarter Festival 2006

Earleta and I met Kent and Sharon in New Orleans in April '06. It was great seeing old friends and meeting new ones. Here are some of the bands we got to see. Click on their names to see the photos I shot of them. Then click on any thumbnail to see the full size picture.

Connie Jones' All Stars.

Connie and I tried to remember when I first saw him play. All we could come up with was that it was at the old Blue Angel Bar and Cafe in the 200 block of Bourbon St. Probably about 1985. Earleta and I count him and his wife, Elaine, among our bestest friends.

Tim Laughlin
(pronounced Lock-lin)

We have only known Tim well for a few years. I first heard him when he was playing with Dickie Taylor and the Dukes of Dixieland. But we have come to really appreciate his skill and talents and especially his sense of humor. This year Tim played in a new venue on Royal St. He is so popular that he really outgrew the Bourbon St. venue.

The Dukes of Dixieland Gig

I first met Dickie Taylor, the drummer and leader of the Dukes, when he was playing with Connie Jones at the Blue Angel. Dickie has been leading the Dukes for about 20 years, now, and still hasn't slipped a step. We saw him on the road with Connie and also when he played with Banu Gibson and the Lawrence Symphony on Fourth of July at the Riverfront Park. Neat guy and fantastic drummer.
